WWF Encourages You to Go Dark for an Hour March 28 [VIDEO]

The World Wildlife Fund for Nature wants you to turn off your lights for one hour to send a collective signal to world leaders that we must fight climate change together and that we must do it now.

Earth Hour is an impactful action, taken by hundreds of millions around the world each year, demonstrating a commitment to save the planet. By switching off the lights for one designated hour – March 28th, 2015, at 8:30 pm local time—individuals, businesses and world leaders join together in an iconic and unprecedented lights-out display.

Started by WWF in 2007 in Sydney, Australia more than two million participants, Earth Hour now engages more than 162 countries and territories and millions of people around the world.

According to the WWF, Earth Hour 2015 comes at a critical point. The world is facing a climate crisis. Without action, humanity, wildlife and the planet we know and love will suffer. The US is uniquely poised to help drive climate action at home, and at the same time, rally other countries to make commitments to fight climate change.

“Countries around the world are committing to reduce their carbon emissions in an effort to work toward a new global agreement to tackle climate change. Now is the time to raise our voices and demand strong action from world leaders.” ~World Wildlife Fund for Nature

Taking part in Earth Hour is easy
1. Turn off all non-essential lights at 8:30 pm your local time and let us know you are taking part!

2. Celebrate your commitment to the planet with your friends, family, community or at work. You could have a candlelight dinner party with friends or practice your yoga skills by moonlight. Find more ideas of what you can do in the dark.

3. Tell your friends – Earth Hour 2015 is on its way to becoming the largest display for climate change action ever.
